Character Information

Background

Kellindil is an orphan, his mother – dead due to his cowardice – and his father – dead due to heartbreak. Kellindil was a castoff, his sisters scorned him; blaming the young elf for the death of their parents. He grew up a street rat in Sharn, living off the scraps he fought for; knowing nothing else but survival. As he grew, his quick wit and fast hands served him well. He gained the favor of a shadowy benefactor in the employ of House Tarkanan, who nurtured his talents and paid him well for his services as a saboteur.

Throughout these years, a burning desire grew within him, a need to save his long deceased parents, no matter the cost. There were no innocents and none to be forgiven for interfering with his quest. Now at adulthood, this desire is a white-hot conflagration, an all-consuming need. He searches for a way to reverse what he has wrought, but the very gods are lined against him - each priest praying for their return, each sacrifice to some demon-prince, each devil worshiper brought low is all for naught. He considers any price acceptable to bring them back.

Short Story

Frustration crept into his voice. "You mean, there is nothing you have to offer? No information?"

The old man slid forward in the chair, his wispy gray hair falling over his eyes. "You seek to take what is rightfully the gods. Do you think it so unbelievable that I know not how to do that? They keep what is theirs close to the chest." He cast his gaze to the floor. "They are a jealous lot."

With a growl of agitation, the elf swept a hand across the table, knocking the meager meal and watery ale, along with the plateware, to the floor. The room was empty; only he and the old codger were in attendance to the uncharacteristic display of emotion.

The weathered, old man seemed unphased by the outburst. "You have spent so much money and have come away with nothing. Take what you still have and go - live a full life."

The elf stood, wiping the now stained sleeve of his shirt with a dirty cloth napkin. "The money is of no consequence, old man, and you, with your abhorrent lack of information--" he said monotonously; a green-bladed sword, thin and razor sharp, seemed to appear in his left hand, "--are of no consequence."

The old man seemed unperturbed at his looming demise; instead, toying with the food on his plate, eyes downcast. "Killing me will not bring them back."

He raised the blade up, ready to strike. "No, you are right. Killing you will not bring them back, but I will sleep better at night."

The blade fell.

Appearance

Kellindil is slightly shorter than the average elf, with close cropped blonde hair and pale eyes. He rarely smiles, except when sarcasm or menace takes his mood. His hands are rough and scarred from a life fought for on the streets and back-alleys. He wears dark clothing, befitting a life spent in the shadows, and keeps his weapons within arm’s reach.

Personality

Alignment: Unaligned

Kellindil is normally calm and collected. If, however, a situation concerns his long deceased parents, he can be very volatile and prone to outbursts of violence against those that have brought the situation to a head. He has no qualms with taking life, whether innocent or otherwise, and views others as tools to further his agenda. He realizes, however, that without companions he would not get far in his search.

Hooks

  • Seeking Redemption: Kellindil seeks to bring his parents back from the dead. He will do anything that gets him closer to achieving that goal.
  • Brought to Justice: Kellindil’s remaining family – three sisters – believe he is a threat to himself and to everyone around him. They search for him tirelessly.
  • Magic is the Key: While he will accept gold and silver as payment for a job, he greatly prefers magical items, as he believes they are the cornerstone to returning his parents.

Kicker

The all-encompassing need to resurrect his parents has caused Kellindil to take on a life of adventuring, tirelessly searching for a way to foil the very gods that keep them out of his grasp.
